| China, Ethiopia sign technical, vocational cooperation accord |

On April 11, China and Ethiopia signed an agreement providing for upgrading technical and vocational profession in Ethiopia.
Education State Minister Wondwosen Kilfu with Ethiopian Ministry of Education and Exchanges’ Deputy Director General with the Chinese Education Ministry Liu Baoli signed the agreement.
After signing the agreement, Liu Baoli said the agreement would strengthen technical and vocational cooperation between the two countries. He said China has plans to increase scholarships it has been granting by two-fold over the next three years, the country has strong desire to strengthen its cooperation with Ethiopia.
Many technical and vocational teachers have received free training in China since 2001, Liu Baoli said. China has dispatched 89 Chinese vocational teachers to the various states in Ethiopia in the last four years while granting 40 scholarships to Ethiopian students annually in China.
According to the pledge made Chinese President, Hu Jintao during the Sino-Africa Cooperation Forum, the country will grant 55 more scholarships this year to Ethiopian student.
